 REPORTERS:

Please remember to take complete notes of what we did and learned in class today… Later, we can summarize and compose a short piece that describes our day.

All of our descriptions should be complete… and easy for anyone to understand.   You will be the reporter… teaching our readers what we learned today.   Our absent students should be able to keep up and know what went on using the details in your posting.  (Will we want to add photos or graphics to your post?)

ALL reporters need to make their posts the DAY of the lesson… this will ensure accurate notes and that all of our readers are able to know what is going on with the most up-to-date information.

Post your information using your very best writing skills… our audience includes fellow students, parents, and teachers (as well as a world-wide Internet audience)

LEAVING COMMENTS:

  1. Online communication is a two-way discussion.   Leaving comments is as equally important as posting.
  2. Focus on something interesting or positive from the post that you are commenting on.  Keep your response focused on the ideas in the posting.
  3. Provide transistion from the post to ideas or points that you would like to add.  You could expand upon the original idea by making a connection (text-to-text, text-to-self, or text-to-world); or politely disagree explaining why ~ it is fine to have a differing point-of-view, but at ALL TIMES we will show each other respect.
  4. Conclude your comment with a strong idea (clincher) or a full-circle ending… It could also be in the form of a question or a powerful restatement of the ideas stated in the blog.  These could be questions or comments that you could use during a discussion… keep the conversation going…

(We will create a response sheet that will aid us in this…everyone will get a copy to use and then I will post the file here for future reference)

REMEMBER:

KICK ~ Keep it Clean Kiddos! Everything posted MUST be school appropriate.  This is our place… our learning tool, but we  represent Gorton Junior High School while we are online… Always make our school proud!
